The Society of Bariatric Anaesthetists (SOBA) is a newly formed specialist society for anaesthetists interested in anaesthesia and critical care for Bariatric surgical and other morbidly obese patients.
The society aims to provide a forum whereby specialists in this area, and others with an interest, can communicate as well as exchange information and other relevant data. It will also provide a voice for those working within the speciality, representing their views and interests. SOBA will encourage the formation of research networks and provide guidelines for anesthetising obese patients". An email discussion forum is also available to members.
