SOBA UK Winter Scientific Meeting
The SOBA UK Winter Scientific Meeting (WSM) is our annual national meeting focused on anaesthesia and perioperative care for people living with obesity. It is normally hosted in London in early December and has been running for many years.
The meeting brings together anaesthetists, perioperative physicians and other healthcare professionals from across the UK to share current evidence, practical experience, emerging research and ideas for improving care.

Our next Winter Scientific Meeting will take place on Friday 4 December 2026 at One Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London.
What is the WSM for?
The Winter Scientific Meeting aims to:

share up-to-date evidence relevant to obesity, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine

translate research and guidance into practical clinical care

provide space for discussion and debate around areas of uncertainty or changing practice

showcase research, quality improvement and innovation through oral and poster presentations

provide practical and hands-on learning

support education, networking and collaboration between clinicians with an interest in obesity-related perioperative care
The programme changes each year to reflect new evidence and developments in practice.
